Bio

Yosvany Quintero (composer, clarinet and saxophone player) was born in 1973 in Matanzas, Cuba. He studied clarinet and violin at the National Music School of Havana. He studied Composition at the Institute of Superior Fine Arts (ISA, Havana) with Harold Gramatges and Electronic Music with Carlos Fariñas and Roberto Valera. In 1997 he came to Basle city invited by Thomas Kessler to continue his studies at the Musik-Akedemie and studied algorithmic composition with Hanspeter Kyburz. He attended composition masterclasses and seminars with Julio Estrada, Jesus Villarojo, Giancarlo Schiaffini, Edgar Alandia, Dujka Smojke, Stefano Scodanibbio and Luigi Abbate. Since 1998 he has been working as a clarinet and sax player in various European jazz festivals and clubs . He is also conducing two musical ensembles (Cuarteao and Frontton). He awarded a prize in the 13th International Composition Seminar of Boswil, in 1999. Quintero's compositions have been performed in Cuba, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Netherlands musical events.

Yosvany Quintero (Komponist,Klarinettist, Saxophonist) Geboren 1973 in Matanzas, Kuba. Mit Geige angefangen und mit Klarinette Abschlussdiplom an der Nationalen Musikschule Havanna. Studium an der Kunstuniversität Havanna: Komposition bei Harold Gramatges und Elektronische Musik bei Carlos Fariñas und Roberto Valera. 1997 kam er an die Musik-Akedemie der Stadt Basel zu Thomas Kessler und danach studierte er algorithmische Komposition bei Hanspeter Kyburz. Er besuchte diverse Meisterkurse bei Julio Estrada, Jesus Villarojo, Giancarlo Schiaffini, Edgar Alandia, Dujka Smojke, Steffano Scodanibbio und Luigi Abbate. Seit 1998 spielt er als Klarinettist und Saxophonist in verschiedenen Festivals und Jazzclubs in Europa. Er ist auch als Dirigent tätig. Am 13. Internationalen Kompositionsseminar in Boswil 1999 erhielt er einen Preis. Aufführungen seiner Werke fanden in Kuba, der Schweiz, Deutschland, Italien und in den Niederlanden statt..
